PER SCORES A PAIR IN WIN OVER MUSTANGS

The York University Lions field hockey team had a 1-1 mark in two games this weekend, highlighted by a 4-1 victory on Saturday morning (Oct. 4) over the Western Mustangs in Guelph, Ont.

Western's Katelynn Roganowicz opened up the scoring with a corner goal in the sixth minute against the Lions. But only eight minutes later, York's Michelle Per (Port Moody, B.C) scored an attack goal, equalizing the score.

The goals kept on coming after Per's marker as Madeleine Krupl (Ajax, Ont.) scored an attack goal in the 21st minute, followed by a stroke goal from Rebecca Titus (Scarborough, Ont.) one minute later.

In the second half, Per scored another attack goal in the 46th minute to put the game away.

Later on in the evening, the Lions lost 1-0 to the Waterloo Warriors with a 43rd minute corner goal by Stephanie Snyder.

The Lions are currently in fifth place in the OUA standings with a 3-6-2 record and a total of 11 points.

The Lions are off next weekend and will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 19 for their regular-season finale against the undefeated Toronto Varsity Blues.
