The York University Lions women's volleyball team lost to the OUA West-leading McMaster Marauders in four sets on Friday (Jan. 23) in Hamilton, Ont.

The Marauders won the first two sets 25-20 and 27-25, respectively. The Lions pulled one back at the third set that ended at 25-23. However, the home team took the victory at the fourth set at 25-19.

With the loss, the Lions now hold a record of 8-6 and currently sit in fifth place with 16 points in the OUA East standings. The Marauders improved to 22 points and a six-game winning streak as they maintain their position on top of the OUA West standings.

Brittney Hopley (Thornhill, Ont.) recorded 15 kills out of 28 attempts and ended the game with 17.5 points.
Kirsten Dillon (Surrey, B.C.) contributed 37 assists and added five digs.

Michelle Pierce (Windsor, Ont.) made 10 kills and two service aces.
Veneta Mincheva (Gatineau, Que.) made 11 kills and two blocks. Both players ended the game with 13.5 points.

The Marauders' Lauren Mastroluisi was the game leader, making 19 kills, seven digs and 21 points. Caitlin Genovy set up 38 assists and added three digs.
The Lions will host the Nipissing Lakers, whom they defeated in straight sets at the reverse fixture, at the Tait McKenzie Centre on Saturday (Jan. 24) beginning at 12pm.
