The York University Lions men's and women's cross country teams both finished in 11^th place at the OUA championships at Columbia IceField on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 31) in Waterloo, Ont.
 
The men ended up with 300 points, finishing four back of the Ottawa Gee-Gees, while the women wrapped up the race with 324 points.
 
Leading the way for the Lions in the men's 10km race was Suraj Sharma (Brampton, Ont.), who crossed the line in 44^th place in a time of 33:05.4. Less than 30 seconds later, teammate Brandon Belan (Espanola, Ont.) finished his race in a time of 33:38.9 for a 52^nd-place result.
 
Rounding out the top three for the Lions was Jamie Tarling (Caledon, Ont.), who was 60^th in a time of 34:11.7.
 
Newcomer Nina Sieh (Mississauga, Ont.) was the team's top finisher in the women's 6km race, ending up in 46^th place in a time of 22:53.4. The next two Lions finishers were Giulia Ferrante (Maple, Ont.) and Maria Markovac (Toronto) in 53^rd and 69^th place, respectively. Ferrante's time was 23:06.7 and Markovac finished in 23:42.4.
 
The Guelph Gryphons swept the men's and women's team titles for the 12^th straight year. The men's competition was a thriller as the Gryphons won by just a single point, while they dominated the women's event to win by 42.
