The York University Lions men's and women's cross country teams finished fourth and fifth overall, respectively, at the Don Mills Open meet at the University of Waterloo on Saturday (Oct. 3).

The men's team had a solid day on Saturday in taking home fourth place with
Suraj Sharma (Brampton, Ont.) placing 11
th with a time of 34:09 in the 10km race, which boosted the Lions ranking. Following close behind Sharma was
Sam Agnew (Renfrew, Ont.), who crossed the finish line in 34:40 to place 21
st.

Eleven seconds following Agnew was
Chris Pallotta (Toronto) finishing the day with a time of 34:51 and a 27
th-placing. Once Pallotta finished, there was a pack of Lions that followed, beginning with
Jamie Tarling (Caledon, Ont.) in a time of 34:57,
Harishan Karuneathiran (Brampton) in 35:20,
Itamar Zilberman (Thornhill, Ont.) in 35:25,
Brandon Belan (Espanola, Ont.) in 35:45, and Muad Issa (Mississauga, Ont.) in 36:03.

The Lions women's team was led by
Nina Sieh (Mississauga, Ont.), who crossed the finish line for a time of 23:36, placing 20
th in the 6km race. Twenty-one seconds after Sieh ended her day,
Giulia Ferrante (Maple, Ont.) sprinted across the line to take home 26
th overall.

The other Lions competing on Saturday in London were
Maria Markovac (Toronto), who finished with a 24:16 time good for 32
nd ,
Anna Prozou (Toronto) in 24:50 giving her the 48
th spot,
Vaishnavy Yogarajah (Brampton, Ont.) in a time of 25:07, four spots behind Prozou for 52
nd overall, and 64
th place went to
Darya Chenskikh (North York, Ont.) finishing with a time of 25:55.

The Lions women's and men's cross country team are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 10) when they compete at the Queen's Invitational in Kingston, Ont.
