The York University Lions men's basketball team was defeated 104-69 by the No. 5 nationally-ranked Ryerson Rams at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto on Wednesday night (Jan. 13).

The Lions were determined off the first whistle and finished the first quarter closely trailing the Rams by a score of 22-17. However as the game progressed, the Lions lost their footing and couldn't recover from the Rams' extensive lead that they were able to pick up in the third quarter, resulting in the lopsided win for Ryerson.

Ryerson's Adika Peter-McNeilly tallied the most points of the game with 22, while Jean-Victor Mukama followed closely behind with 19 points. Aaron Best also added 16 points to the team's total, scoring all three of the free throws he shot towards the rim.

Lions
Nathan Culbreath (Kingston, Ont.) led the team with 19 points, shooting two-for-two at the free throw line and sinking seven attempts from the field.
Shane Reader (Toronto) wracked up 16 points and 10 assists, while
Tommy Hobbs (Anchorage, Alaska) added 15 points, shooting three-for three-at the three-point line.

The Lions fell to 3-6 with the loss and are currently third in the OUA East Division, while the Rams improved their record to 5-1 with the victory.

After a 10-day break, the Lions will have home court advantage when they take on the first-place Queen's Gaels at 3pm at the Tait McKenzie Centre on Saturday, Jan. 23.
