York University Lions cross country runner
Suraj Sharma recorded his second straight top-five finish of the season with a fifth-place showing at the Toronto Invitational on Sunday (Oct. 16) at Centennial Park.

The fifth-year runner from Brampton, Ont., crossed the finish line of the 8km race in a time of 25:38 to finish among the leaders in a field of 84 runners.

Teammates
Brandon Belan (Espanola, Ont.),
Colton LaFrance (Espanola, Ont.) and
Abdiziz Ali (Etobicoke, Ont.) all ran in the race as well. Belan was 43
rd in a time of 27:52, LaFrance was 57
th in a time of 28:42 and Ali finished 72
nd with a time of 30:25.

The Lions also had four runners in the women's 5km race and they were led by
Vaishnavy Yogarajah (Brampton, Ont.), who crossed the finish line in a time of 20:16 in 34
th place. Teammate
Anna Green (Ottawa) was right behind her in 35
th place with the same time, while
Nina Sieh (Mississauga, Ont.) was 43
rd in a time of 20:51 and
Brittania Fusca (Markham, Ont.) finished 64
th with a time of 23:30.

The Lions now have a weekend off and will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 30 for the OUA championships, which will be hosted by the University of Toronto at Centennial Park.
