LIONS AND GRYPHONS PLAY TO SCORELESS DRAW IN GUELPH

The York University Lions women's soccer teams remained gridlocked all match in a 0-0 tie with the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday (Sept. 18) at Alumni Stadium in Guelph, Ont.

Fourth-year goalkeeper Taylor Grant (Brampton, Ont.) kept the door shut on the Gryphons, saving both shot attempts that Guelph had on goal.

Offensively the Lions onslaught of shots was held off just enough to keep the game even at zero. This was due to Guelph goalkeeper Elizabeth Brenneman saving all four shots on goal.

Despite the tie the Lions are still leading the pack in the OUA West, sitting at the top of the standings with an undefeated 6-0-1 record. The Lions hard work is clearly paying off as the have 29 goals for with a mere one goal against so far in their 2016 campaign.

The Lions next match will take place on Saturday (Sept. 24) at 6pm against the Windsor Lancers in Windsor, Ont. York will return home to Alumni Field after a road stretch on Wednesday, Oct. 12 when they attempt to settle the score against the Gryphons.
