The York University Lions women's hockey team allowed the lone goal of the game less than three minutes in as part of a 1-0 loss to the Waterloo Warriors at Columbia Ice Field in Waterloo, Ont., on Sunday afternoon.
Â
Tegan Odland found the back of the net just 2:23 after the opening whistle to give the Warriors the lead. That proved to be the only goal of the game as both goalies stood tall for the rest of the game.
Â
The Lions fired 35 total shots at Waterloo goaltender Taylor Reimer, including 11 in the third period while allowing just four in their own end, but could not get the puck past Reimer, who earned the shutout in net. At the other end of the rink,
Lauren Dubie stopped 17 of the 18 shots she faced to take the loss.
Â
The Lions dropped to 3-0-7-1 on the season, while the Warriors won their sixth straight game and are currently fourth in the OUA standings with a 5-1-1-0 record.
Â
The Lions have two more games before the December break and will be at home next weekend against the Nipissing Lakers and Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Both games will begin at 2pm at Canlan Ice Sports.
