The York University Lions women's soccer team paid a visit to the Waterloo Warriors at the University of Waterloo's Warrior Field on Friday. Both teams settled for a 1-1 draw.
After a scoreless first half, fourth-year midfielder
Christina Morelli scored the Lions' only goal of the game in the 48
th minute. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Warriors evened the game again in the 56
th minute with a goal by Ainsleigh Sedore.
York goalkeeper
Tamara Orlando was tremendous to keep her team in the game, making nine saves and allowing just the one goal. Her Waterloo counterpart, Madison McDonald, only faced three shots and made two saves.
The Lions now have a 1-5-3 season record, and are ranked eighth in the OUA West Division. The Warriors sit in third place with a 3-1-4 season record.
The Lions will face the Warriors once again next Saturday, this time at home at Alumni Field. Game time is set for 1pm.
