The York University Lions women's rugby team took on the Guelph Gryphons Friday at Alumni Field in their first home game in the season. The Lions played their hearts out, but faced a tough loss of 76-10 to the reigning OUA champions.

Catherine Belanger made the subsequent conversion and a three-point penalty goal in the 36
th minute for the Lions' points.

The top scorer for the Gryphons was Madison Bratton with three tries. Teammate Jazmine Ing kicked a total of six conversions.

The Lions now have a 0-2 season record, and the Gryphons are at 2-0 for the regular season. The Lions will be at Alumni Field again on Friday, Sept. 15 to take on the Queen's Gaels.
