The No. 8 nationally ranked York University Lions men's volleyball team defeated the Waterloo Warriors 3-1on Friday (Oct. 24) in Waterloo, Ont.

The Lions won the first and second set with 25-21 and the fourth with 27-25. The Warriors won the third set 25-21.

In the first set, many kills were made from both sides, but the Warriors were aided by a series of service errors from the Lions.
Josh Henderson (Scarborough, Ont.) committed a kill at the end of the game to ensure a 25-21 win for the Lions.

In the second set the scoring went back and forth with each side gaining one point at a time. The Lions finally broke the tie with kills by
Ray Szeto (Sutton, Ont.).

The Warriors were able to threaten the lead by winning the third set 25-21 with 3 points ahead of the Lions gained by two attack errors, a kill by Jordan Dyck, and a service ace.

The fourth set was equal with points gained from both sides. Towards the end of the set the game was tied 25-25 but the Lions were able to push through with kills by Szeto and Henderson.

The leaders from the Lions side was Szeto with 18 kills and a block, Henderson with 17 kills and one ace and
Marko Dakic (Mississauga, Ont.) with 11 kills.

The next match up for the Lions is a game against the Guelph Griffons on Saturday (Oct. 25) in Guelph, Ont.
