YORK SPORT HALL OF FAME CHARTERED MEMBERS

ABOUT THE YORK SPORT HALL OF FAME

The York University Sport Hall of Fame was initiated by the XY Club (Alumni Association of Yeomen and Yeowomen) in 1980. The Sport Hall of Fame honours individuals who have significantly contributed to York University Athletics & Recreation as athletes, coaches and administrators and who have exemplified the spirt and ideals of York University sport in professional or community life.

From 1980 to 1986, York celebrated the achievements of 27 remarkable individuals by inducting them into the Sport Hall of Fame. After 1986, the inductions were suspended as a result of decreased resources. The Hall of Fame was revived in May 2001 with the induction of an additional 10 outstanding individuals, and to appropriately showcase the tremendous
achievements of all inductees, a permanent Hall was created at this time. All historical plaques were reconstructed to incorporate the new design developed for the revival of the Sport Hall of Fame. The permanent Hall is prominently location in the link corridor between the Tait McKenzie Centre and the York Student Field House at York University.

The School of Kinesiology & Health Science is now committed to sustain the program so that the accomplishments of former student-athletes, coaches and administrators can be duly celebrated.
