What is “Lions for Lions”?
Lions for Lions (L4L) is a program that creates support for all of York University’s varsity teams and generates an increased sense of school pride. By encouraging athletes to support and cheer for one another, Lions for Lions will develop pride and spirit at York. Stay tuned to the Sport Council Instagram for information on dates of events. Get your team involved and help develop York’s spirit and pride while supporting all your fellow athletes!
 
How are L4L points awarded?
All teams at York University will be awarded points based on their participation in different Lions for Lions activities, and for their in-season achievements!

What Are Points Awarded for?
Percentage of athletes from your team at L4L events 
Community outreach involvement 
Highest GPA out of all teams 
Winning OUA or U SPORTS Championship 
Athletes of the week 
OUA & U SPORTS All Stars 
*Possibly Online challenges/posts due to Covid-19
 
What do these points mean?
At the end of the year the team with the highest point totals will be awarded the Roar Cup trophy at our annual Athletic Banquet. The winning team also earns an extra $1000. They can choose what they would like to do with the winning money, but ultimately the coach will make the final decision. Other teams will also earn prizes based on high point totals – the second-place team will be awarded $500, while the third-place team will win $250. 
 
What are the events?
Each team will be assigned at least one home game to be their Lions for Lions game day. The schedule will be released at the start of the fall semester and will be posted/updated on the York Lions media pages and the Sport Council Instagram. There may also be additional events such as Halloween for Hunger, Bell Let’s Talk and Games for the Cure that may be incorporated in with Lions for Lions.
