Recreation Programs

Recreation Comes to You (RC2U) allows campus groups to organize fitness classes, group games, team bonding, first aid courses, and more! Book the space and we provide the instructors or staff members. If you have an event or want to run weekly classes, we assist on your schedule. Or, take advantage of the spaces at the Tait McKenzie Centre and run your programs in Tait!
Note: Program availabilities are based on A&R staff availability. If you are interested in running a program, please reach out to our Rental team at nilanp@yorku.ca.

First Aid Programs

Want your staff trained in First Aid? Why not do it together. Run an Emergency or Standard First Aid Course through Athletics & Recreation either at your location on campus or at the Tait McKenzie Centre. Make it convenient for your team to be knowledgeable in basic skills to helping those who are injured.
Course options include:

Standard First Aid – includes CPR-C and AED: Great for all members of the community, coaches, staff, and anyone in recreation and sport. Valid for three years. Please carefully read the Recertification requirements before registering.

Emergency First Aid – includes CPR-C and AED:  For people who want a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Valid for three years.

Airway Management - Provides specific knowledge and training in the use of oxygen, suction devices, oral airways, and masks/bag-valve-masks. Valid for two years.

CPR-A (Adult) – Great as a refresher - teaches how to do CPR and choking procedures for adults and includes the importance of early defibrillation and how to use an AED. Valid for two years.

CPR-C (Adult, Child, Infant, and Two-Rescuer) - Ideal for fitness instructors or personal trainers to maintain certification. Valid for two years.


 
P.L.A.E.
Rec York has brought back PLAE Days – Play. Laugh. Active. Engage. Choose from a variety of active and fun games such as cornhole, Axe Throwing (yes really!), wheelchair sports, Kan Jam, and many more, or fitness and lifestyle programs like cooking, yoga, or Zumba! We will develop the event and activity flow based on your needs. Each game has its own team lead who will entertain and challenge you team to Play, Laugh, Be Active, and Engage.
