The No. 2 nationally ranked York University Lions men's soccer team defeated the McMaster Marauders 2-1 on Sunday (Oct. 5) in Hamilton, Ont., for their 11
th straight win.

The Lions now lead the OUA West standings with 37 points, while McMaster trails in second place with 26 points. The division leaders hold a record of 12-0-1.

The Lions finally got the best of the Marauders, who remain the only team to earn a point off the Lions this season and who represent the only OUA team to defeat them in the regular season since 2010.

Joey Cicchillo (North York, Ont.) opened the scoreline with a goal in the 21
st minute. It was the striker's sixth goal of the season and third of the weekend.

Lions' goal-scoring talisman
Jarek Whiteman (Brampton, Ont.) cushioned the lead with a 44
th-minute goal. Whiteman has 12 goals this season, making him the leading goal scorer in the OUA division.

The Marauders gave the Lions a scare when Mark Reilly scored a late goal in the 83
rd minute, but the leading team was able to defend its advantage until the final whistle.
