Last MeetingsThe Lions won both matches against the Gaels last year, both of them as tight battles. They took the first in five sets in Kingston after nearly coughing up a two-set lead, and in the second they again won the first two sets en route to a four-set win.
The Lions swept the Paladins in their two meetings last season, both of them in straight sets. The most points the Paladins scored in one set in either of the two matches was 19.
QUICK FACTS York• The Lions have been rolling since a slow start to the year, winning three straight matches. They are coming off their best weekend of the season, a five-set win over Windsor followed by a four-set victory over Western, the reigning OUA and CIS silver medallists, on the road.
• The Lions have yet to win a match without giving up a set. They dropped one each to Waterloo, Nipissing, Toronto and Western in addition to the five-set win over the Lancers.
• The Lions began the season in the CIS national rankings for two weeks, peaking at a high of No. 8. It marked the first time in more than eight years the team had earned a spot among the CIS Top 10.
Queen's• Like the Lions, the Gaels enter the weekend hot with four wins in their last five matches following an 0-3 start. Among those victories was a sweep of nationally-ranked Guelph two weeks ago.
• The Gaels have won and lost the same number of sets this season, at 15 apiece.
• The Gaels, who have won four OUA championships in the last nine seasons (most recently 2012), struggled last year with an 8-11 record and a sixth-place finish, ultimately falling to Waterloo in the quarter-finals.
RMC• The Paladins are still looking for their first win of the season after eight straight losses to begin the year. They have won three sets, one each against Windsor, nationally-ranked Guelph and Queen's.
• The Paladins have won the fewest number of sets in the OUA (three) and lost the most (24).
