The York University Lions women's basketball team fell to the fourth-ranked McMaster Marauders on Saturday night (Nov. 21) by a score of 86-45 at the Tait McKenzie Centre.

After falling behind 32-2 after the first quarter the Lions began to claw their way back into the game, and leading the march was
Ishanaa Seupersadsingh (Markham, Ont.), who scored a team high 11 points to go with four rebounds and four steals.

The Lions outscored the Marauders 11-10 in the second quarter and stayed close with the Marauders throughout the second half. After the half the Lions played with intensity and high tempo which began to shrink the Marauders commanding lead, but the Marauders closed out the game with multiple stretches of unanswered buckets for the convincing win.

Sandra Nagowska (Peterborough, Ont.) was dominant in the paint and led the Lions in rebounding with six.

Danielle Boiago of the Marauders was utilized early and often in Saturday's game as she finished with a game-high in points and rebounds, putting up a double-double with 24 points and 12 boards.

As part of the evening's festivities, the Lions recognized long-time head coach
Bill Pangos, who retired at the end of last season after 29 years at the helm of the program, and plenty of alumni were in the crowd to honour the former coach.

The Marauders improved their record to 4-1 on the season while the Lions are still looking for their first victory at 0-4. The :ions are back on the hardwood next Friday (Nov. 27) when they travel to Waterloo, Ont., to take on the Warriors in a contest beginning at 6pm.
