The Lakers defeated the Lions in four sets in their first match-up this season two weeks ago, giving Nipissing its first victory over York since joining the OUA in 2013-14. The Lions took the second set of the contest but were otherwise overmatched by their opponents. Prior to that, the Lions had won four straight regular-season contents.

QUICK FACTS

York
  • The Lions got off to a fast start to the year with a pair of wins over Windsor and Western that moved them into the top 10 in the CIS, at No. 10. They have come down some since then and have split each of their last three weekend series, posting wins over RMC, Guelph and Toronto to go along with losses to Queen's, Nipissing and Ryerson.
  • The Lions have been dominant on home court with a stellar 4-1 mark thus far. Their only loss in that stretch was to the Gaels, who are currently in second place in the standings.
  • Prior to Sunday's game, the Lions will travel to Guelph, Ont., to face the Gryphons in their final road contest of 2015. The Lions won a thrilling five-setter over the Gryphons two weeks ago, coming back from two sets down to earn the victory.

Nipissing
  • The Lakers are on pace for their best ever season since their debut campaign two years ago. After back-to-back 5-15 records, the Lakers already have four wins in just nine contests this season.
  • The Lakers opened the season with four wins in their first seven contests but are currently riding a mini two-game losing streak, dropping both contests to Toronto and Ryerson last weekend. They lost in straight sets to the Varsity Blues and took a set off of the Rams.
  • The Lakers will also be in St. Catharines, Ont., on Saturday night to face the Brock Badgers as part of their weekend schedule.
