Saturday's game against the Gaels is a rematch of last year's OUA quarter-final, which the Lions came back to win in four sets after dropping the first. The Gaels won both regular-season meetings, taking the first 3-1 and the second in straight sets. The two squads also faced off once in the pre-season this year, with Queen's winning in five sets at the Ryerson Invitational.

QUICK FACTS

York
  • The last time they were on home court, the Lions posted a thrilling five-set comeback victory over then-No. 7 nationally-ranked Western to start the year 2-0, following a season-opening victory over Windsor.
  • The Lions dropped their two most recent contests last weekend, falling to top-ranked McMaster as well as Waterloo, who were the gold and silver medallists, respectively, in the OUA last year.
  • The Lions have spent one week in the CIS rankings so far this season, appearing at No. 10 in the poll after the opening weekend of action.
  • After this weekend, the Lions will play once at home and once on the road for each of the next three weeks before the long December break.

 RMC
  • The Paladins are still looking for their first win of the year after an 0-4 start. They have been swept in straight sets in each match, falling to Queen's, McMaster, Ryerson and Toronto.
  • The Paladins have not won a match in any of the last six seasons.

Queen's
  • The Gaels have alternated wins and losses through their first three matches of the season. They started with a sweep of their Kingston rivals, RMC, in the opener before hosting Ryerson and Toronto last weekend, falling to the Rams in straight sets and defeating the Varsity Blues 3-0.
  • The Gaels went 6-3 in the pre-season, including finishing as the silver medallists at Ryerson's tournament.
  • Queen's finished two points behind the Lions in the regular-season last year at 12-8, good for fifth place in the OUA standings.
