The York University Lions men's hockey team was routed by the Ryerson Rams 7-3 on Thursday (Feb. 5) at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, Ont.

The Rams drew first blood in the first period at 12:19 through a short-handed goal by Kyle Blaney. The Lions quickly responded with a power play goal by
Derek Sheppard (Ajax, Ont.) 15 seconds later.
Mitch VanTeeling (Brandon, Man.) assisted the goal.

Towards the end of the period, Andreas Tsogkas fired the Rams to lead 2-1 through a pass by Michael Fine.

At the start of the second period, the Lions did well to pressure the Rams.
Michael Santini (Woodbridge, Ont.) and
Connor Hale (Whitby, Ont.) linked up with Sheppard for the equaliser at 5:28.

The Rams took the lead again through Lucas Froese at 12:41 as the second period came to a close.

The final period saw the Rams run rampant over the Lions, starting with a short-handed goal by Domenic Alberga after 17 seconds of play. Blaney scored his second of the night at 2:31. Two minutes later, Mitch Gallant scored a power-play goal to put the match out of sight.

Santini scored at 5:38 for a consolation goal.
Jordan Forfar (Sutton, Ont.) and
Paul Sohor (East St. Paul, Man.) were credited with the assists.

Daniel Clairmont scored the seventh goal for the Rams at 11:20 to seal the team's massive victory.

Lions goaltender
Chris Perugini (King City, Ont.) managed 26 shots while Rams goalie Troy Passingham made 47.

The Lions will be at home at Canlan Ice Sports for their final game of the season against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday (Feb. 7) beginning at 7pm.
