The York University Lions men's volleyball team fell 3-0 to the No. 8 nationally-ranked Queen's Gaels at the Athletics and Recreation Centre in Kingston, Ont., on Friday evening (Jan. 22).

The Gaels were able to scrape by with three close set wins: 25-20 in the first set, 26-24 in the second and another 25-20 victory in the third set.

Despite the loss,
Arthur Szwarc (Toronto) tallied the most points (17) and kills (14) out of the two teams.
Spencer Kingzett (Penticton, B.C.),
Alexander Duncan-Thibault (Scarborough, Ont.) and
Tyler Covach (Kitchener, Ont.) each scored five points, while
Nicolas Pirnat (Ottawa) was given four points to his name.

The Gaels' Mike Tomlinson had a team-high of 14.5 points and 13 kills, while
Marko Dakic had 13 points and 11 kills. Brothers Scott and Chris Brunet each had 10 points to add to the team's total.

The result is now added to the Lions' 6-9 record this season and has them in eighth place in the OUA standings. The Gaels continue to hold down third place with a 9-3 record and 18 points.

The Lions continue their run on the road as they face the winless RMC Paladins at the Kingston Military Community Sports Centre on Saturday (Jan. 23). First serve will be at 3pm.
