Last Meetings
Saturday's battle against Queen's is a rematch of last year's OUA quarter-final contest, which the Gaels won in straight sets at home. Queen's also won both regular-season meetings, the first 3-1 at York and the second in straight sets in Kingston, Ont.

The Lions swept the season series against the Paladins last year, winning both matches in straight sets. They have never lost to the Paladins since RMC joined the OUA for the 2004-05 season, a span of 23 matches.

QUICK FACTS

York
  • The Lions are the hottest team in the OUA East, rattling off three straight victories to move into a tie for fourth place with the Nipissing Lakers. They started the run with a big win over Ryerson, followed by a five-set victory over Toronto and a sweep of Trent.
  • The Lions finally return home this weekend after playing four of their first five matches on the road, including each of the last four.
  • The Lions have only played one match that has gone longer than three sets, their five-set win over the Varsity Blues.

Queen's
  • The Gaels saw their four-game winning streak come to an end last weekend with a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Guelph on the road. They had taken a 2-0 lead in the match before the Gryphons stormed all the way back to steal the victory. Prior to that, they defeated Toronto, Windsor, Western and Waterloo.
  • The Gaels find themselves in familiar territory atop the OUA East Division, a place they would have finished last year if there had been two divisions. They went on to get upset in the OUA semifinals by the Ryerson Rams.
  • The Gaels also have a match with the Nipissing Lakers to close out the 2016 portion of their schedule, on Sunday in North Bay, Ont.

RMC
  • The Paladins have two wins in their first seven matches, defeating Trent in their first match of the season in straight sets and then taking down the Windsor Lancers in four sets two weeks ago.
  • Before this year, the Paladins had not won an OUA men's volleyball match in at least seven years dating back to the 2009-10 season.
  • Among their losses was a five-set defeat to Toronto in which they were up 2-1 before falling 16-14 in the deciding set.
