In the OUA quarterfinal hosted at Queen's Athletics and Recreation Centre, the seventh seeded York University men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 loss to the second seeded Queen's Gaels on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 27), as the Gaels eliminated the Lions from the OUA playoffs.

The Gaels were able to take down the Lions in three sets after winning the first and second sets with a 25-20 score and the third set with a 25-18 score.

Former Lion
Marko Dakic led the way for the Gaels with a game high of 14.5 points and played a well-rounded game with 13 kills and 10 digs. Mike Tomlinson and Scott Brunet also had solid games as Tomlinson had 12.5 points with 10 kills and Brunet had 10 points with seven kills.

On the Lions' end,
Nicholas Pirnat (Ottawa, Ont.) did the most damage with 11.5 points and 11 kills, while
Arthur Szwarc (Toronto) tallied 8.5 points with five kills and two service aces.
Tyler Covach (Kitchener, Ont.) also totaled 5.5 points, and
Spencer Kingzett (Penticton, B.C.) and
Alexander Duncan-Thibault (Scarborough, Ont.) had five points and three kills apiece.

For the setters, Gaels Jamie Wright had 33 assists, while Lions
Logan Mend (Naramata, B.C) had 23.

With the result the Lions bow out of the playoff tournament, while the Gaels advance into the OUA semi-finals. With a young team and no graduating players, the Lions will look to regroup in the off season and come back strong for the 2016-17 campaign.
