On Sunday, Feb. 6 the York University women's volleyball team (5-11) went ahead early but came away with a 3-2 loss against the Windsor Lancers (10-5) at St. Denis Centre in Windsor, Ont.

Both teams remain in the same positions in OUA Standings. York is in fifth place in the OUA East while Windsor sits in third in the OUA West.

All sets played were extremely close as the Lions claimed the first two sets 25-23 and 25-21, but the Lancers won the remaining three sets (25-22, 25-22, 15-6) and came back to defeat the Lions 3-2.

Lancers Shannon Dean collected an outstanding 32 points for her team with 28 kills and one service ace. Melissa Smyth and Emily McClosky hit 10 kills each. Smyth ended the game with 13 points and McClosky with 11.

For the Lions
Celeste Witzell (Kitchener, Ont.) led the team with 18.5 points from 14 kills, two service aces, and two blocks.
Heather Setka (Winnipeg, Man.) followed behind her with 15 points and totaled 11 kills and two service aces.
Sarah Williams (Oakville, Ont.) also put up 12 points on the board with 12 kills.

Setters Lauren Stirling finished with 51 assists for the Lancers, while Lions
Kristen Dillon (Surrey, B.C.) grabbed 47 assists.

Next week the Lions take on the Waterloo Warriors back at home at the Tait McKenzie Centre. Frist serve will be at 2pm on Feb. 14 (Sunday). Â
