Last Meetings
The Golden Hawks provided the Lions with one of their tougher match-ups last year, earning a 1-1 draw in Waterloo, Ont., in the first meeting of the season for one of only three games the Lions did not win outright last year. However, one week later the Lions posted a dominant 5-0 victory over the Golden Hawks. The Lions have not lost to the Golden Hawks since the OUA final in 2008.

QUICK FACTS

York
  • The Lions began the year with a pair of shutout victories over Algoma on the road last weekend, winning the first 7-0 and the second 4-0. They were one of two teams to open the season with a pair of victories.
  • The Lions opened the CIS national rankings at No. 1 and have now been nationally ranked in 51 straight polls dating back to Week 6 in 2010.
  • The Lions have been far and away the best team in the OUA over the last three seasons. They have won five banners (three OUA titles and back-to-back CIS championships), posted 56 wins and only five losses in 66 regular season and playoff contests and have a scoring differential of +158.

Laurier
  • The Golden Hawks posted a win and a loss on opening weekend of the soccer season. They started with a 4-0 defeat to Guelph on home turf but rebounded to defeat the cross-town rival Waterloo Warriors 3-1 on Sunday.
  • The Golden Hawks finished sixth in the OUA West last season and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the McMaster Marauders by a 2-0 score.
