The University of Toronto Varsity Blues scored with 29 seconds remaining in the game to defeat the York Lions by a score of 2-1 at Varsity Arena on Saturday night.

Chelsea Tucker (Alliston, Ont.) scored her first of the season at 16:44 of the final period to equal the score at 1-1. Just when it looked as though the game would go to overtime, Becki Bowering found the back of the net to steal the victory for the Blues.
After a scoreless first period, the first goal of the game came only 19 seconds into the second period off the stick of Kristi Riseley. Her goal would hold up as the only one of the game until Tucker's marker late in the third.
The Lions dominated the first period, outshooting the Blues 11-3, but Toronto goaltender Katey Teekasingh turned aside every shot she faced in the frame. The Blues controlled play for most of the rest of the game, ultimately outshooting the Lions 24-23.
Teekasingh finished with 22 saves and the one goal allowed, while
Lauren Dubie (London, Ont.) also made 22 saves in the loss.
The Blues improved to 9-1-5-0 with the win to move into a tie with the Waterloo Warriors for third place in the OUA standings. The Lions dropped to 2-2-8-4 at remain outside of the playoff picture.
The Lions will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Oshawa, Ont., to face the UOIT Ridgebacks. Puck drop is set for 3:30pm at the Campus Ice Centre.
