QUICK FACTS
Â
York
- The Lions are unbeaten in 10 straight matches, going 9-0-1 in that stretch including last week's 3-0 wins over McMaster and Brock on the road. The only points the team has surrendered in that stretch came in a 1-1 draw with Western the last time the Lions were on home turf.
- Their recent run has them alone in first place in the OUA West Division and the Lions can clinch their 11th straight division title with a pair of wins this weekend.
- The Lions are once again the highest scoring team in the division with 34 goals, and they have also allowed the fewest at only 10 given up in 13 games.
- After three weeks outside the national rankings, the Lions have been in the top 10 for three straight polls and are at a season-high of No. 5 this week.
Â
Algoma
- The Thunderbirds are currently enjoying their best season since joining the OUA in 2014 with two victories in their first 12 games. That includes their biggest in program history last week, a 2-1 result over the Western Mustangs on home field.
- Algoma also earned a 3-2 victory over Waterloo on opening weekend.
- The Thunderbirds have already scored more goals this year (eight) than they did all of last season. Their defence is also improved and is allowing nearly one full goal less per game than last year.
