The York University Lions women's soccer team faced off with the visiting Windsor Lancers Saturday in their last regular season game. The Lions had a four-game winning streak heading into this match and needed a point to secure a playoff spot, and they got it with a 1-1 draw.
The first half remained scoreless until the last two minutes of play, when Cassie Chretien of the Lancers scored a goal on a shot that went well above the head of Lions' goalkeeper
Taylor Grant.
The Lions stepped up their offensive game in the second half, and it paid off. They were awarded a free kick in the 62
nd minute that was taken by
Ashley Nater, and she easily sent it to the lower left corner of Windsor's net. Nater has been the Lions' top scorer this season with five goals.
The Lancers remained scoreless in the second half, and the game finished in a 1-1 tie.
