The York University Lions men's basketball team was defeated by a score of 82-61 by the Queen's Gaels on Wednesday afternoon in their final game of the fall semester at the Athletics & Recreation Centre in Kingston, Ont.

Ricky Hudson scored the opening basket of the game but momentum quickly swung to the home team and the Gaels outscored the Lions 22-8 in the first quarter to take a commanding lead the Lions could not recover from.

Queen's continued its strong play in the second, stretching their advantage to 45-21 at the half. The third quarter went much better for the Lions as they narrowed the gap slightly, but they could not get close to the Gaels again.

Rookie
Prince Kamunga had another strong game off the bench, leading all Lions with 15 points and adding three rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Gene Spagnuolo chipped in with 11 points and Hudson led all Lions with five rebounds.

The Gaels' leading scorer was Jesse Graham, who came in as a reserve and finished with 18 points as well as seven rebounds, one steal and one block. Tanner Graham and Mike Shoveller each posted double-doubles, with Graham putting up 16 points and 13 rebounds and Shoveller finishing with 15 points and 13 boards.

The Lions head into the December break with a 2-8 record, while the Gaels improved to 6-3 with the win. York will return to action on Friday, Jan. 5 when they face the Laurentian Voyageurs on the road in Sudbury, Ont., at 8pm.
