The York University Lions women's hockey team capped the home portion of its regular season with a big 4-0 shutout victory over the visiting Laurier Golden Hawks at Canlan Ice Sports on Sunday afternoon.

The first period was an even, tight affair in which the Lions outshot the Golden Hawks 10-9 but neither team could beat the goaltender. However, in the second the Lions poured it on offensively, outshooting the Hawks 15-6 and scoring three times.

Sophomore
Erin Locke (Toronto), the team's leading scorer, netted a pair of goals in the frame to give the Lions a 2-0 lead. Her first came at 9:02 with an assist to
Chelsea Tucker (Alliston, Ont.), and her second was a short-handed marker at 16:29 from
Taylor Davison (Oakville, Ont.) and
Tegan Duncan (Oakville, Ont.).

Before the end of the period the Lions added another short-handed tally, this one from
Justine Treadwell (Huntsville, Ont.) just 35 seconds after Locke's second.

Just over five minutes into the third team captain
Amy Locke (Toronto) added to the Lions' lead to round out the scoring. The graduating senior was assisted by two other players in their last game's at Canlan in
Rianna Langford (Collingwood, Ont.) and
Lauren Cavarzan (Hamilton, Ont.).

Rookie goaltender
Lauren Dubie (London, Ont.) earned the shutout in net while making 17 saves.

The Lions moved into a tie for 11
th place with the win at 4-2-12-4, while the Golden Hawks remain at the bottom of the OUA standings with just 12 points and a 2-1-15-4 record.

The Lions will wrap up the regular season next weekend with a trip north to face the Nipissing Lakers and Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday and Saturday afternoons, respectively.
