Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | By Joey Ricottone

LIONS TAKE OVER SOLE POSSESSION OF FIRST WITH EIGHTH STRAIGHT WIN

The seemingly unstoppable York University Lions men's volleyball team continued to add to their win total on Sunday afternoon when they picked up their eighth straight victory with a straight-sets win over the RMC Paladins in Kingston, Ont.

The first set gave the Lions their biggest test of the match, as the Paladins would score their game-high 23 points. The Lions cruised to the 25-point mark through the help of players like Andrew Shotbolt (Markham, Ont.), who recorded six kills and a block.

In the second set the Lions would continue their fluid play. This relaxed dominance shone through in the performance of Toure Nwakwesi (Brampton, Ont.), who recorded five kills, two digs and three blocks. RMC could not keep up with the Lions pace and would fall by a score of 25-18.

With the Lions on the hunt for their eighth straight victory the team's superman, Alex Duncan-Thibault (Scarborough, Ont.), would take the wheel and deliver York to the promise land. He put on quite the show as he recorded 21 kills, five digs and four blocks. His unstoppable play would deliver the Lions a 25-22 victory and ultimately their eighth straight victory.

With the win, the Lions now hold a 13-3 record and the first overall spot in the OUA East standings. They will look to make it nine in a row next Friday when the Windsor Lancers travel to Toronto for a match beginning at 8pm at the Tait McKenzie Centre.
