The York University Lions women's hockey team allowed a late goal to the Guelph Gryphons and then lost in overtime in a 4-3 game on the road on Thursday night.

The entire first period and most of the second were scoreless, but the Lions finally broke the deadlock at 18:04 on a goal by rookie
Brooke Anderson and appeared headed to the intermission with the lead. However, just 24 seconds before the final whistle the Gryphons leveled the score on a goal by Kaitlin Lowy.

Kelsey McHolm scored at 4:12. The 2-1 lead lasted only four minutes, however, as Miranda Lantz netted an unassisted marker at 8:17 for a 2-2 score. Team captain
Jenna Gray scored with just three minutes remaining on the clock and the Lions had the chance to win in regulation, but the plucky Gryphons responded yet again as Lowy scored her second of the night at 18:37 to push the game to overtime.
Katie Mikkelson made no mistake at 3:21 of the extra frame to secure the victory for the home team.
