The York University men's hockey team won 7-0 in their second of two back-to-back games against the Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday evening at Canlan Ice Sports.

The Lions opened up the first period scoring two late goals to pick up a well-deserved 2-0 lead. After multiple goal-scoring chances, the Lions scored their first goal at 17:35 when
Morgan Messenger and
Bradley Forrest assisted
Reid Jackman. Jackman received a puck in front of the net from wide right and shot the puck which went off the top crossbar and in. The Lions continued to pressure the Voyageurs and with only 16 seconds remaining in the period,
Sal Filice who was assisted by
Matthew Ferrari and
Dexter Bricker scored a beauty with a slap shot from the blue line.Â

The Lions fed off their momentum in the first period and scored three more goals in the second period which gave them a 5-0 lead against the Voyageurs. Fifteen seconds into the period, Jackman who was assisted by Messenger and
Scott Feser, found the bottom left corner to score his second goal of the night.

Later in the period, the Lions scored two more goals within three minutes of each other. Short-handed, at 9:21, Filice who was assisted by
Josh Harris and
Stefano Pezzetta, took another slap shot in front of the net which gave him his second goal of the night and increased the Lions' lead to 4-0. Yet again, at 12:09 the Lions scored their fifth goal when
Nick Zottl found LaFrance who took a shot that deflected off the goalie's pad. Jackman was in front of the net to pick up the rebound scoring a tap-in goal on a power play which gave him his hat-trick.

In the third period, the Lions scored two more goals, with a goal by Harris assisted by Pezzetta and
Jack Goranson and a goal by Pezzetta assisted by Zottl and Bricker. Mack Shield's was solid in net, making 32 saves and earning himself his first shutout this season.

The Lions play again at home in their next contest against the Ryerson Rams on Nov. 2. The game is scheduled to start at 7pm at Canlan Ice Sports. Â
