The York University men's hockey team played their first of back-to-back games against the Lakehead Thunderwolves and came away with a 5-2 victory on Friday evening in Thunder Bay, Ont.

Reid Jackman scored three goals in the second period to earn himself his second hat-trick of season. Jackman previously scored a hat-trick two weeks ago in a huge 7-0 win for the Lions against the Laurentian Voyageurs. He is now ranked third in the OUA with 8 goals and tied for fourth with 13 points.
Scott Feser added a goal for the Lions and two assists to jump into fifth place in the OUA with nine assists this season.

The Lions managed to get 25 shots on goal and capitalize on five, while the Thunderwolves doubled the Lions with 51 shots on goal, but only got two of them passed
Mack Shields.

It wasn't until the second period that the Lions scored their first three goals courtesy of Jackman. Jackman scored his first goal unassisted at 1:57, followed by his next two markers which gave the Lions a 3-0 lead on the Thunderwolves. The tally's came at 8:58, with assists by Feser and
Morgan Messenger, and 14:42 on a power play assisted by LaFrance and Feser. The Thunderwolves scored their first goal with just 48 seconds left in the period on a goal by Tomas Soustal. The Lions ended the second period with a 3-1 lead.

During the third period, although the Lions were outshot by the Thunderwolves, they scored two more goals to increase their lead. The Lions scored at 5:17 when Jackman and Messenger found Feser to take a 4-1 lead on the Thunderwolves. The Thunderwolves shot 15 more times at Shields and scored one last time at 8:37 with a goal by Daniel Del Paggio. York's
Nick Zottl finished the game by scoring an empty netter at 18:46.

The Lions play the Lakehead Thunderwolves again tomorrow, Nov. 10, in Thunder Bay, Ont. The game is scheduled to start at 7pm.
