The York University Lions men's basketball team lost against Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks by just four points at the Tait McKenzie Center on Saturday, Nov. 17.

The Lions scored the first two points of the game as York's
Prince Kamunga secured a two-point shot for the home team, which was followed by a three-point shot from
Chevon Brown. Brown and Kamunga contributed points for the Lions one after the other, giving the Lions an early 9-3 lead over the Golden Hawks.

After the first quarter the Lions were ahead 22-13 with nine of their points coming from Kamunga. In the second quarter of the game, the Golden Hawks were the top scorers with 23 points to the Lions' 18. Laurier's Kemel Archer and Ali Sow made noticeable contributions to their teams as they scored a total of 15 points, helping the Golden Hawks catch up to the Lions and trail them by one point.

The Lions led by one-point 49-30 after the first half of the game. In the second half, there was a back and forth battle between the teams. The Lions scored 31 points to Laurier's in the third quarter with
Gianmarco Luciani, Brown and rookie DeAndre Pierre also scoring key buckets for the Lions.

In the final quarter when the Golden Hawks were able snatch the win from the Lions as Laurier scored 27 points to the Lions' 15, giving them a 90-86 win against the home team.

Brown led the Lions with 22 points while Pierre was close behind with 20. Luciani, in his second game back from an injury, had 11 points and five rebounds in a losing effort, while Sow led the Golden Hawks with 24 points and shot 12 of 12 from the free throw line.

The Lions will be playing against the Lakehead Thunderwolves on the road in their next game on Saturday Nov. 24 at 8pm.
