QUICK FACTS

York
  • The Lions were flying to start the season, earning wins in eight of their first nine contests to race to the top of the OUA East standings. They have been on a bit of a slide of late, however, with only one win in their last four.
  • The Lions were last in action two weeks ago, when they defeated Windsor in five sets and lost to Western in four sets. They did not have any OUA games scheduled last weekend.
  • The Lions are comfortably in position to host an OUA quarter-final game when the regular season ends at the end of the month. They currently sit second in the division with a 9-4 record, two points back of Ryerson but with a game in hand. They have a six-point advantage over Nipissing.
  • The Lions are one of the highest-scoring teams in the OUA, ranking second in the conference with 16.1 points per set, just behind nationally-ranked McMaster. They rank second with 12.15 kills per set and lead the OUA with 111 service aces, 32 more than any other team in the conference.

Brock
  • The Badgers started the year with nine straight losses but have since been one of the hottest teams in the OUA with five consecutive victories. Among their wins was a 3-2 victory over OUA East Division-leading Ryerson and another over Queen's last weekend. Their most recent game resulted in a 3-0 win over RMC.
  • The Badgers are in a three-way tie with Waterloo and Guelph for the fourth and final playoff spot in the OUA West with five wins apiece. However, the Badgers have played one more game than the Gryphons and two more than the Warriors.
  • The Badgers are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the conference, ranking 11th of 13 teams with just 13 points per set.

McMaster
  • The Marauders lost their season-opening match to Ryerson in four sets but have since won 12 in a row heading into this weekend. Nine of those wins have been in straight sets, including five of their six matches in 2018. Last weekend they defeated RMC 3-0 and Queen's 3-1.
  • The Marauders lead the OUA West with a 12-1 record but have just a two-point lead over Western, the second-best team in the conference.
  • Sunday's battle features the two highest-scoring teams in the OUA as the Marauders lead all teams with 16.8 points per set. They are also the conference leaders in kills per set (12.67) and are just behind the Lions in service aces (79).
  • The Marauders have won five straight OUA championships and eight of the last 10. They will host the U SPORTS championships in mid March.
