YORK TOPS BROCK 3-2 IN SUNDAY AFTERNOON ROAD GAME

The York University men's soccer team beat the Brock Badgers 3-2 in an action-packed game at the Badger's Alumni Field on Sunday, Sept. 16.
 
The Lions got off to a quick start and within the second minute of the game, York's Maurizio Ragone scored the first goal against Brock's goalkeeper Alexander May. Ragone's. The Badgers responded and in the 15th minute, Brock's Alexander Makubuya also scored Brock's first goal of the game to tie the game 1-1. The Badgers scored another goal before the first half ended to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
 
York continued their pressure as the second half began and scored their second goal of the game in the 60th minute. Forward Omar Marzouk's goal was assisted by Ragone, which allowed the Lions to tie the game 2-2, Finally, forward Chris Jacovou scored the late game-winning goal, notching the winner for the Lions in the 85th minute to make the final 3-2 for the Lions.
 
The game featured a level of intensity as a total of 11 yellow cards were handed out. The Lions had 11 shots against May, while Brock had four against York's Mike Argyrides, who saved two of them. Four of the shots against Brock came from York's Emmanuel Zambazis who scored in the previous game for the Lions.
 
The Lions will attempt to continue their unbeaten streak as they play the Waterloo Warriors next in Waterloo, Ont. on Friday Sept. 21 at 8:15pm.
