The York University Lions men's hockey team lost 6-1 against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Monday, Jan. 28 in a matinee game at the University of Toronto.

In the first period of the game, the Blues' Joey Manchurek scored the first goal of the game at 5:31 with an assist from Justin Brand and Matt Campagna. Ten minutes later Manchurek scored again with an assist from Aidan Wallace and Willy Paul. The Blues led 2-0 after the first 15 minutes until the Lions responded at 18:58 with their first goal from

Scott Feser and
Justin Bean picking up assists. The Blues finished off the period with a shorthanded goal near the end of the period at 19:34 by Campagna to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period of the game the Lions were able to get eight shots-on-goal compared to the Blues who got 14 shots-on-goal. The Blues were able to get two of the shots through York's goaltender
Alex Fotinos, with their fourth goal coming at 11:55 from Ryan Kirkup and their fifth coming at 15:07 from David Thomson. They picked up their final goal early in the third period on a goal by Nathan Hudgin at 2:52.

Blues goalie Alex Bishop made 22 saves to pick up the win, while Fotinos made 31 saves in the loss. Feser continued his hot streak for the Lions and now has ten points (3 goals, 7 assists) in his last four games.

The Lions will be travelling to Windsor, Ont. to face off against the Windsor Lancers on Friday, Feb. 1 in their next game.
