LIONS ON HOME COURT FOR TWO GAMES THIS WEEKEND

The York University Lions men's volleyball team will be on home court this weekend for two divisional matchups. They will welcome their OUA East Division rivals the RMC Paladins and the Queen's Gaels to the Tait McKenzie Centre for two important mid-season games.
 
The Match-up: York (4-6) vs. RMC (1-12) and No. 9 Queen's (10-3)

Last Meetings
The Lions swept the Paladins in three sets earlier this season, winning by scores of 25-17, 25-23 and 25-17. York also won both matchups between the two squads last year, picking up 3-2 and 3-0 victories.  
 
York lost 3-1 to Queen's on the road earlier in the season in a close match (20-25, 25-23, 20-25, 23-25). York won both games by scores of 3-2 against Queen's last season and were on a four-game win streak against the Gaels before their set back earlier this year.

  • The Paladins will face the Nipissing Lakers on Sunday after playing the Lions on Saturday. After this weekend they only have three games left in their season and will finish up by playing the Trent Excalibur and the Queen's Gaels twice.
 
Queen's
  • The ninth-ranked Gaels are currently in first-place in the OUA East with 20 points, two more than Ryerson and Toronto who are tied for second-place.
  • The Gaels rank second in the OUA in kills per set (11.91), assists per set (11.51) and are fourth in hitting percentage (25.5%).  
  • Queen's is coming off two impressive victories at home last weekend, beating Toronto 3-1 and Ryerson 3-0.
  • The Gaels have been solid defensively this season and rank fourth in the OUA in digs per set (9.85) and eighth in blocks per set (1.68).

York
 
S Logan Mend – Ranks fourth in the OUA in assists (363) and sixth in assists per set (8.64). Also leads the Lions with 15 service aces.
 
M Toure Nwakwesi – Tied for the team lead with 16 blocks. Is also averaging 2.4 points and 1.93 kills per set this season.
 
RMC
 
OH Dale Towe – Leads team with 3.7 points per set and 3.28 kills per set this season. Also has 14 blocks, nine assists and four service aces.
 
S David Hamilton – Leads Paladins with 173 assists and 4.94 assists per set.
 
Queen's
 
OH Zac Hutcheson – Ranks second in the OUA in kills (196) and sixth in the kills per set (3.56). Also ranks second on the team with 29 blocks and 14 service aces.
 
S Zane Grossinger – Second-year setter ranks first in the OUA in assists (548) and is second in assists per set (9.96).
