LIONS DROP BADGERS TO GO 4-1 ON THE SEASON

The No. 9 nationally ranked York University Lions women's hockey team beat the Brock Badgers 2-0 on Thursday night in St. Catherines, Ont.

All the scoring action took place in the second period of the game where York's Kara Washer scored with an assist from Brooke Anderson, and captain Erin Locke scored soon after with a short-handed goal, which was assisted by Taylor Murphy.

The game saw a total of 25 shots on goal from both teams. In the first the Lions fired nine shots while the Badgers produced 10, however, both defensive ends were able to block the attempts.

It was, however, in the second period, when the Lions were able to get two goals in past Brock goalie Jenson Murphy.

In the third period of the game, Lions offense remained strong with seven shots to the Badgers' six and none were able to produce goals.

The win marks the Lions fourth win in a row giving them a 4-1 record this season.

The Lions will be playing the Ryerson Rams on Saturday at Canlan Ice Sports. The Game begins at 2:15pm.
