LIONS STRETCH WIN STREAK TO THREE WITH VICTORY OVER MUSTANGS

The York University Lions women's volleyball team took their fourth win of the season after they beat the Western Mustangs, the No. 2 team in the OUA East Division, in a 3-1 game on Friday night, extending their winning streak to three.
 
The Lions, who are fourth in the OUA East standings, took the first set from the Mustangs with a final set score of 25-16. Western was the first to get on the scoreboard during the set, however, York's Olivia Kim was able to put a stop to Western's attempt at a second point with her first kill of the game. She then served six times in a row to help give the Lions to a 7-1 lead. During the set the Lions threw down 12 kills while the Mustangs only produced seven kills against the Lions.
 
Though the Mustangs took the first point of the second set, the Lions were still able to take the set and further their lead to 2-1. Chiara Da Silva served five times in a row following Western's first set point. In the set, Da Silva helped the Lions get a lead on the Mustangs as she served five points in a row.
 
In the third set the Mustangs were finally able to take a set win against the Lions as they beat York 25-11. However, the Lions were able to make a comeback in the fourth set by three points to take a 25-22 set win.
 
Kim had a stellar game with 18 points (14 of them kills) and 12 digs, while Aleksandra Steins finished behind her with 11.5 points and Da Silva finished with 35 assists.  
 
The Lions will be playing another road game tomorrow night as they take on the Windsor Lancers at 6pm in Windsor, Ont.
