LIONS FALL TO LANCERS ON THE ROAD 3-1

On Saturday, the York University Lions men's volleyball team fell on the road to the Windsor Lancers 3-1.

Both teams came out hard in the first set. The Lancers scored first with a kill from Dami Alalade, but the Lions followed up with points of their own with a kill from Aleksander Grzegorczyk. The score remained neck and neck until the Lions started to fall back with two more kills from Alalade and one from Pierce Johnson. The Lancers maintained the lead ending the first set 25-20.

The Lions opened the second set with a point off an error by the Lancers, but that didn't stop the home team from pouring in points and taking a quick lead. The Lions began to close the gap with a kill from Andrew Tauhid, a Lancer error followed by another kill from Tauhid to make the score 12-13. Sadly, the Lancers peeled away to win the second set 21-25.

In the third set the Lions forced a Lancer's error to gain the opening point, followed by a kill from Grzegorczyk and Kirsten Duncan-Thibault, giving them the lead. Despite the Lancers' efforts, the Lions came out on top with a kill from Toure Nwakwesi to win the set 25-21.

In the fourth set, the Lancers came out full speed as they took the lead early, gaining a series of four points and kept the four-point deficit going, ending the final set 20-25.

Lions Patrick Jensen led the team with a whopping 38 assists. Grzegorczyk had 13 kills and 16 points, while Nwakwesi recorded eight kills and 10 points.

The Lions play their last home game of the calendar year this Friday against the RMC Paladins at 8pm.
