The York University Lions men's hockey team lost 5-3 against the Windsor Lancers during an away game in Windsor, Ont. on Friday, Feb. 1.

In the first period of the game, the Lions had 12 shots on goal against the Lancers. York was able to capitalize off of one of the dozen shots at 7:26 when
Justin Bean scored the first goal of the game, which was assisted by
Morgan Messenger, his 12th assist of the season, and
Stefano Pezzetta, his seventh assist of the season.

The Lancers were able to shoot seven shots-on-goal, however, none were able to find the back of York's net.

In the second period, it seemed as though the Lancers were able to find their momentum as they scored two goals, one at 12:55 from Kyle Hope and the second at 16:08 from Josh Slegers, taking the lead from the Lions with a score of 2-1.

In the third period, both teams battled it out for the win as they almost equalled in scoring attempts. The Lancers with ten and the Lions, one behind at nine. Both teams were identical in goals, both finishing off the period with two with the first two goals coming from the Lions. Bean registered his second goal of the game at 5:05, assisted by
Scott Feser, his 18th assist of the season. At 8:25,
Sal Filice scored the third and final goal for the Lions who were temporarily leading 3-2 until the Lancers were able to score two more goals from Kody Gagnon and Chays Ruddy to take the lead and snatch the win from the Lions. Ryan Shaw finished off the scoring with an empty net goal at 19:25 to make the final score 5-3.

York's goaltender
Mack Shields was able to save 31 of Windsor's shots while Windsor's Jonathan Reinhart had 29 saves during the game.

The Lions will be playing the Brock Badgers back-to-back on Sunday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 9 in Toronto and St. Catharines, Ont. respectively before their last regularly game of the season against the Ryerson Rams on Sunday, Feb. 10
