The York University Lions men's basketball team lost 82-63 to the Ryerson Rams on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

Nana Adu-Poku was the first to put points on the board for the game, giving the Lions a lead on the Rams. The Rams were soon able to also establish themselves on the scoreboard. The teams remained close in points throughout the remainder of the first quarter with the help of
Gene Spagnuolo who scored five points, including a 3-point shot and Adu-Poku who was also able to drain a three. The Rams, however, ended three points ahead of the Lions after the first quarter with a 19-16 lead.

In the second quarter, the No. 3 Rams took control of the game and opened up a big lead. Second-year guard
Prince Kamunga was the top scorer for the Lions in the second frame as he contributed five points for the visiting team. At the end of the first-half Ryerson led 49-35 over York.

In the third frame, the Lions and the Rams were even as both scored 13 points.
Gianmarco Luciani made a few appearances on the scoreboard for the Lions including a three-point jumper. But the Rams still held a 14-point lead 62-48 at the end of three quarters. Â

Ryerson was able to secure their win against York in the fourth quarter despite buckets from both Gene and
Stefano Spagnuolo who combined for a total of seven points. Adu-Poku also poured in four points for the Lions in the quarter but it was not enough as the Rams took the 82-63 victory.

Adu-Poku was the leading scorer for the Lions with 14 points to go with seven rebounds while G. Spagnuolo wasn't far behind with ten points. Ryerson's Myles Charvis was the top scorer for the Rams with 20 points.

The Lions will be playing the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in their last game of the regular season tomorrow at U of T. The two Toronto rivals head into the game tied for the last playoff spot in the OUA East, with the winner of the game advancing to the post-season. The game will tip-off at 8pm.
