The York University Lions men's volleyball team beat the Trent Excalibur 3-1 on Saturday, Feb. 23 in Peterborough, Ont. in their final game of the regular season.
The Lions'
Andrew Shotbolt led in points between both teams with 18 points in total, which were great aids to help the Lions take their final regular season win.
In the first set, the Lions beat Trent in a 25-19 game set. In the second set, the home team, which is currently ranked 7th in the OUA East division, were able to surpass the Lions and take the set by three points for a 25-22 set win.
After two sets, the teams were tied 1-1. During the third set, the Lions were able to take the set by seven points for a 25-18 win and were able to mirror their points in the final set for another 25-18 win.
The Lions were able to produce a total of 41 kills during the game, 13 powered by Shotbold and six by York's
Dan Everton who was also able to provide 27 assists.
Nathan Lake was able to fire five kills while
Andrew Tauhid and
Robert Thompson were able to record four of their own.
The Excalibur on their part were able to net39 kills, 16 from Matthew Bergin.
This game brought the Lions their final win of the regular season. They will advance to the playoffs and will face the McMaster Marauders in the first round. The schedule for the game will be announced this week.
