LIONS FALL TO NO. 2 RAVENS ON FRIDAY NIGHT

The York University Lions men's basketball team lost 102-57 to the Carleton Ravens, the current number two ranked team in the country on Friday, Feb. 8 at the Tait McKenzie Centre.
 
In the first quarter of the game, the Ravens led with 23 points and the Lions were able to secure 16. York's Gianmarco Luciani secured the first two points for the Lions and also led the team in points in the first quarter with seven points however, the Ravens were able to push past the Lions and leave the first quarter with a 23-16 lead.
 
In the second quarter, the Ravens continued to lead the play on the court and on the scoreboard. They were able to score 23 points and held the Lions to six to end the first half with a 46-22 lead.
 
In the third quarter of the game the Lions DeAndrae Pierre and Chevon Brown each scored six points but the Ravens were able to increase their lead to 72-41 heading into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter of the game, though the Lions were able to get another 16 points in, it was not enough to hold off the Ravens who were once again able to score more points than the Lions and take the quarter, as well as the game with a final score of 102-57 for the visiting team.
 
Luciani was the top scored the most points for the Lions with 12 points, while fellow senior Gene Spagnuolo had ten points and a team-high seven rebounds. Carleton's Yasiin Joseph was the top scorer for the Ravens with 16 points.
 
The Lions will be playing the Ottawa Gee Gees, the other OUA team from the nation's capital, tomorrow at the Tait McKenzie Centre. Tip-off is at 7:30pm.
