LIONS KEEP ROLLING WITH WIN AT U OF T

The York University Lions men's hockey team beat the Toronto Varsity Blues with a 5-1 victory on Saturday night in Toronto, Ont., their second win against the Varsity Blues this weekend.
 
The win moves up the Lions to third place in the OUA West division, improving their record to 4-4-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Benjamin Evanish got right to work in the opening period for the Lions, scoring twice on power plays against the Blues. The first goal came early in the first with an assist from Lucas Breault and Brendan Browne at 2:10. Followed by his fourth goal of the season at 18:02.
  • After the first intermission, Peyton Reeves found the net for the Blues to put them on the board 2-1. Later in the period, the Lions fed off their momentum early on in the game, as Jordan McKenna scores one of his own to secure his first goal of the season at 14:50.
  • The Lions go on to add two more tallies late in the third period both on an empty net, the first one at 17:23 by Derek McVey and the second from David D'Agostino seconds before the buzzer.  
NOTABLE NUMBERS
  • Evanish had himself a night with two goals, accompanied by D'Agostino with a goal and an assist.
  • Cole Ceci had another impressive night following his last contest against the Blues, with 35 saves on 36 shot attempts while playing the complete 60 minutes.
LOOKING AHEAD 
 
The Lions look ahead to a home-and-home series against the Brock Badgers (6-3-1), the first game taking place in St. Catherines, Ont., on Thursday, Feb. 24 at the Seymour-Hannah Centre. The puck-drop is scheduled for 7:15 pm.
