The York University Lions women's hockey team were handed a 6-1 loss on the road against the No. 10 nationally ranked Nipissing Lakers Thursday night in North Bay, Ont.
The loss drops York's record to 2-9-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Lakers went up on York 2-0, Julia Cuccia cut the lead in half before the end of the second period by burying a shorthanded goal while Abby Hooper was in the box with a double minor for head contact. It made the score 2-1.
- Nipissing's strong even strength play would provide them with a much heavier cushion on the scoreboard. After Cuccia's shorthanded goal, the Lakers potted four straight unanswered goals to end the game 6-1. Maria Dominico had two of the Nipissing tallies.
LOOKING AHEAD
A grueling three-in-three continues Friday night for the Lions, as they face another rival in the No. 1 nationally ranked Toronto Varsity Blues at Canlan Ice Sports. Puck drop is set for 7:15pm.
