York University Lions women's basketball finished season with a 74-65 loss to the Queen's Gaels in their OUA East quarterfinal match-up Wednesday.
The loss eliminates the Lions from the OUA playoffs, and sends Queen's to the Critelli Cup semifinal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gaels got off to an early good start, taking a lead into halftime.
- But after going down early, the Lions put up a good fight in the third quarter. They doubled up Queen's with a 16-8 run. Emma McCamus tied the game 48-48 with a three-ball midway through the quarter, and took a lead after the teams went back and forth in points. They had a 57-55 lead heading to the final quarter of the game.
- Then the Gaels took advantage, scoring 19 points to York's eight.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- McCamus stepped into a big offensive role for York in the absence of Lauren Golding, who didn't make the trip. She has 26 points for a team lead.
- Cyanna King had a double double, including 19 boards.
