The Brock Badgers came out of the gate scoring early and often, leading to a decisive 8-2 win and eliminating the York University Lions men's hockey team from the playoffs Saturday afternoon at the Meridian Community Centre in Fonthill, Ont.
 
The Badgers set the tone early in the game, scoring four goals in the first 10 minutes to secure their berth in the OUA West final.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Lions surrendered five unanswered goals to the Badgers and were outshot 22-5 in the game's first period. The Badgers' momentum was flared by Ryan Burton's 2:16 goal, and two minutes later, Kyle Robinson would find an opening past Cole Ceci. 
• With the score at 6-0, Brock McLeod responded with his second of the playoffs, putting the Lions on the board at 7:46 with an assist from Connor Senken. Owen Guy would add another marker for the Badgers while on a power play at 17:50 to push the game out of reach for the red and white at 7-1 heading into the final period. 
• The Badgers would put an end to the Lions playoff quest when Tyler Burnie tips it in off a loose rebound. With 48 seconds left in regulation, Lucas Theriault net his first of the playoffs wrapping up their season on an 8-2 deficit.
